I watched this documentary yesterday at the Sunshine Theatre in New York City and loved it. I laughed a lot, learned a lot and really made a connection with “Cutie”, Noriko Shinohara, an artist and wife of Ushio Shinohara. This film mainly focuses on the relationship and dynamic between these two Japanese brooklyn-based artists. To this day, they maintain their dedication to art whilst experiencing poverty and hardships during a roller coaster ride of media-induced highs. Towards the end of the film I was moved to tears as Noriko expresses her love and affection for her husband, despite any frustrations or difficulties his choices may have caused the family.
